A Complete Birdwatching Experience
Rare and stunning species such as the Banana Araçari, the Red-breasted Araçari, the Black-throated Tanager, the Seven-colored Tanager, the Black-capped Hawk and the Black Owl coexist with equally charming birds such as the Black-crowned Sunbird, the Araponga, the Red-fronted Parakeet, the Gray Hummingbird, the Varied Bushbuck, the Matracão and the Juruva.
For the more experienced, species such as the Black-throated Tovaca and the Crooked-billed Woodcreeper complete the spectacle.

Location
The Macaé de Cima Environmental Protection Area (APA) covers an area of 35,038 hectares (86,580 acres), and is located in the southern part of Nova Friburgo municipality and partly in the northern region of Casimiro de Abreu.
It is located in the Macaé River basin and the RJ-142 highway between the cities of Nova Friburgo and Casimiro de Abreu passes through the APA along the Macaé River.
