Endemic to the Atlantic Forest of eastern Brazil. This thornbird is usually found at forest borders, especially in close proximity to rivers and streams. The sexes have the same plumage. Bird with brown plumage, rusty forehead, throat and chest and eyes in colors ranging from yellow to light red, passing through orange. Their wings are mostly warm brown that is brighter at the base of the flight feathers and duller at their ends. Large rufous tail that almost always remains open in a semi-fan. The orange-eyed thornbird’s diet has not been well studied but is known to include insects. The orange-eyed thornbird is a year-round resident throughout its range.
